This policy explains what information GharStey ("we", "us") collects when you use gharstey.com and our app, and how we use it. By using GharStey you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: your name, email address and password (stored only in hashed form).
• Listing information you choose to publish: property or restaurant details, address, photos, prices, contact phone/email and map coordinates. Listings are public.
• Booking requests: dates/times, number of guests, rooms and messages you send. These are shared with the listing owner.
• Location: if you allow it, your device location is used in your browser to sort listings by distance. It is sent with your page request for sorting and is not saved to your account. You can deny location and choose a city instead.
• Technical data: a session cookie to keep you logged in, and standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) used for security and troubleshooting.
• On your device: saved listings and your chosen location are stored in your browser's local storage and are not sent to us.

2. How we use information

• To create and secure your account.
• To show listings and deliver booking requests between guests and owners.
• To maintain, secure and improve the service, and to respond to support requests.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising.

3. Sharing

• With owners and guests: when you send a booking request, the owner sees your name, email and request details. Owner contact details you publish are visible to everyone.
• Service providers: our hosting provider stores data on our behalf.
• Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect users and the service.

Links to WhatsApp, phone dialers and OpenStreetMap open those third-party services, which have their own privacy policies.

4. Payments

GharStey does not process payments and does not collect card or bank details.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your account and listings while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account, listings and booking history by emailing support@gharstey.com from your registered email address; we will process the request within a reasonable time unless we must keep some data by law.

6. Security

Passwords are hashed and the site is served over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

7. Children

GharStey is not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

8. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and withdraw consent (for example, for location) at any time, subject to applicable Indian law including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

9. Changes

We may update this policy and will change the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be shown on the site.
